New Delhi: During the recently concluded winter session of Parliament, a total of 264 questions raised by Opposition MPs who were suspended were expunged from the query lists in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha within a span of three days, Hindustan Times reported.
This action was taken in response to the suspension of 146 MPs who had insisted on a statement from Home Minister of India Amit Shah regarding the security breach in Parliament.
Information available on the websites of both Houses reveals that between December 19 and 21, amid 54 suspensions out of a total of 146, 132 questions raised by the penalised members were removed from the lists in the respective Houses.
Additionally, the names of the suspended lawmakers were also removed from groups of members posing the same questions to various ministers, as indicated by details shared on the respective websites of the two Houses.
A record-breaking 146 MPs faced suspension from both Houses over eight days, spanning from December 14 to 21.
This drastic measure was taken due to their unwavering demand for a statement from Amit Shah regarding the security breach that occurred on December 13. Notably, the cases of three Lok Sabha MPs and 11 Rajya Sabha MPs were referred to the privileges committee in the wake of this incident.
