No fuel for bikers without crash helmets in Sopore: ADC

Sopore: In a bid to ensure road safety measures, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore has asked the fuel station owners to ensure the two-wheeler riders, who are found without crash helmets, must not be given petrol.

The Addl DC, SA Raina, as per the news agency Kashmir News Observer, has convened a meeting with petrol filling station owners, stressing the critical role they play in reinforcing helmet usage and road safety, says it’s a collective responsibility of both administration as well as citizens to ensure road safety.

“Ensuring the safety of our citizens is of paramount importance and wearing helmets is a simple yet effective practice that significantly reduces the severity of head injuries in case of accidents — which risks the lives of pedestrians as well,” Raina told KNO.

Pertinently, the official also directed the owners to install the CCTV surveillance cameras besides, ensure night fuelling so that commuters may not face any inconvenience.

He also issued a directive mandating the provision of washroom facilities at all petrol stations within the jurisdiction, availability of air compressor facilities within three days.
