KCCI charts course for 2024 in 89th annual general meeting

89th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) at Hotel The Kaboo in Srinagar on December 30, 2023.

Srinagar: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Saturday conducted its 89th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) at Hotel The Kaboo in Srinagar.

The event, attended by a considerable number of KCCI members, Organisational Heads, and special invitees, saw key discussions and strategic planning for the upcoming year.

Javed Ahmad Tenga, the President of KCCI, extended a warm welcome to the attendees and outlined the priority issues that the Chamber is actively pursuing. The proceedings were conducted with dignity, and the AGM served as a platform for members to engage in fruitful discussions.

During the AGM, Secretary General Faiz Bakshi presented the Annual Administration Report, covering a range of activities, events, and meetings held between February and December 2023. Notably, there were a record nine meetings with prominent figures such as Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Cabinet Ministers of India, Parliamentary Standing Committees, and high-ranking GoI and state administration officials.

In addition to the AGM, an Extraordinary General Meeting was convened to discuss and adopt alterations/amendments to the Articles of Association.

Secretary General Faiz Bakshi conducted a clause-by-clause reading of the existing Articles and the proposed changes, emphasising the need for alignment with the Indian Companies Act, 2013, and its recent amendments. The members unanimously adopted the alterations, recognizing the importance of keeping the Articles of Association updated in the face of technological advancements, including Artificial Intelligence.

The event was graced by esteemed personalities, including Chairman J&K Bank Baldev Prakash, Commissioner SMC/CEO-SMC Athar Amir Khan, Director Handicrafts and Handloom Mehmood Ahmad Shah, and senior officials from the administration and J&K Bank.

Notable participants from various trade associations included Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya, Bashir A Bhat (President KHAROF), Mauzam Bakshi (President KHARA), Jaan Mohammad (UTTA), Bashir Kanu (SKT&C), President PICA Ajaz Qureshi, Shahid Kamili (FCIK), Nasir Shah (IATO), Shameem Shah (TAFI), Anwar Mir (President TAAK/ATOAK), Rauf Tramboo, Zahoor Qari, Athar Yamen (TAAI), and Anwar Mir (ADTOI).

The dais was adorned by KCCI Senior Vice President Ashiq Hussain Shangloo, Junior Vice President Fayaz Ahmad Punjabi, Joint Secretary General Umar Nazir Tibetbaqal, and Treasurer Zubair Mahajan, along with the presence of the KCCI Executive Committee Members.

The AGM and EGM served as vital platforms for strategic discussions, policy alignment, and strengthening the role of KCCI in fostering economic growth and development in the region.
