New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Wednesday announced the initiation of enforcement measures against Air India, imposing a penalty of Rs 1.10 crore.

This action follows allegations of safety violations on specific long-range terrain critical routes. According to the aviation regulator, Air India’s leased Boeing 777 aircraft flew to the United States without the mandated emergency oxygen supply system.

The decision was prompted by a complaint filed against Air India by a former senior pilot, who had served as a B777 commander, as reported by PTI.

The complaint, lodged on October 29 and investigated by the civil aviation ministry and DGCA, raised concerns about the airline operating Boeing 777 planes to the US without the required emergency oxygen supply system. As a result, the enforcement action and penalty were deemed necessary by the DGCA.
