In Gaza, a group of Palestinian men waving a white flag was interviewed live on ITV News, a prominent UK broadcaster, sharing details about their evacuation to the border city of Rafah. Moments later, one of the interviewed men, Ramzi Abu Sahloul, was shot dead by Israeli sniper during the live footage.

Ramzi Abu Sahloul, a 51-year-old husband and father who earned his livelihood by selling children’s clothing, was part of a group of five men who conveyed to the broadcaster that there were no safe places in Gaza.

Their attempt was to relocate Sahloul’s mother and brother from Khan Younis, an area currently under siege by the Israeli military, to the Egyptian border.

Abu Sahloul was seen on live television being shot through the chest, resulting in his instantaneous death. The killing of Abu Sahloul has sparked outrage among ITV viewers, with many considering it another example of alleged Israeli war crimes.

Journalist Nadim Baba, commenting on the incident on social media, said, “Tonight’s sickening @itvnews report should be the norm but it’s not. It showed, as @johnirvineitv says, ‘yet another Palestinian civilian killed while posing no threat whatsoever,’ shot dead while walking slowly with a white flag. There are many such incidents on social media, not on TV.”

In Gaza, Israel has mercilessly killed over 25,000 Palestinians in bombardment and strikes are still underway. The assault began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas forces retaliated to decades-long occupational crimes committed by Israel.
