Machine to be restored soon: MS

Srinagar: The lone CT scan machine at the associated hospital of GMC Handwara in Kupwara district is lying defunct for the last several weeks, causing hardships to patients.

The patients and attendants travelling from remote places of the district expressed their frustration, saying the inoperative CT scan machine has compelled them to visit private labs, which incurs additional expenses.

“Not everyone can afford tests at private clinics,” said an attendant from Keran, adding that the machine must be repaired at the earliest so that the patients do not suffer.

Shakeel Ahmad from Handwara said that they had high hopes when the medical college was opened and they were expecting the hospital to be understaffed and other issues.

They said that the hospital caters to lakhs of people of the district and patients from far off places like Tanghdar, Keran, Macchil and other areas visit the facility.

Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr Nisar Wani while acknowledging that the machine has been defunct for the past two weeks said that they are working to get it restored. (KNO)
