Seven Hindu men arrested for assaulting Muslim youth over ‘Love Jihad’ allegations in Karnataka

Chikkamagaluru: Seven Hindu men were arrested by the police on Friday for over allegations of ‘Love jihad’ in Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka. The incident occurred in Alduru town on the same day, as reported by the news agency IANS.

The parents of the girl filed a complaint against the Muslim youth, alleging attempted kidnapping and deception under the pretext of love.

In response, the parents of the young man lodged a counter complaint against the assault on their son, leading to the arrest of the seven Hindu men by the police. They were associated with right wing outfit VHP, infamous group known for assaults on Muslims.

The situation in Alduru town is tense following these developments, prompting an increase in police presence for security. According to the police, Ruman, a dance instructor, was romantically involved with a minor girl.

The Hindu men accused him of ‘Love jihad’ and forcefully entered his office. The assault ensued after they locked the premises from the inside. The police are currently investigating the incident.
