Around 20,000 surgeries performed; nearly 6,000 patients benefit from Golden Card
Anantnag: Maternity and Child Care Hospital Anantnag has reported 60 pediatric and four maternal deaths in the past three years.
According to data, there were 17 pediatric deaths in 2021-22, followed by 25 in 2022-23 and 18 in 2023-24. One maternal death was recorded in both 2021-22 and 2022-23, with two in 2023-24.
The information, acquired through a Right to Information (RTI) request filed by MM Shuja, reveals that in 2021-22, the hospital attended to 74,180 Gynae patients in the outpatient department (OPD).
The number increased to 91,728 in 2022-23 and declined to 76,902 in 2023-24.
A total of 148,209 pediatric patients visited the OPD in 2021-22, and it rose to 232,815 in 2022-23 and then decreased to 219,158 in 2023-24.
The data reveals that 13,258 gynae patients were admitted to the hospital’s inpatient department (IPD) in 2021-22, 14,114 in 2022-23, and 10,942 in 2023-24. Pediatric patients in the IPD numbered 10,006 in 2021-22, 14,409 in 2022-23, and 14,810 in 2023-24.
In terms of surgical procedures, the hospital conducted 6,445 surgeries in 2021-22, 6,579 in 2022-23, and 5,772 in 2023-24. A total of 5,953 patients benefited from the hospital’s Golden Card facility.
According to the data, the hospital lacks infrastructure, with no new buildings, hostels or residential quarters being constructed. (KNO)
