Faridabad: Cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi, who was also accused in Nuh violence, was caught on camera thrashing a man, who the accused thought is Muslim, with a stick while a policeman watched, police told PTI on Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Shyamu, alleged in his complaint that he was targeted by Bajrangi, also known as Rajkumar Panchal, due to mistaken identity as a Muslim.

Authorities stated that Bajrangi has been charged and the potential suspension of the involved police officer is under consideration.

Shyamu recounted that he was accompanying a girl to purchase chocolates when he was forcibly taken to Bajrangi’s residence by a group of men.

A video circulated online depicts Bittu Bajrangi, accompanied by others, assaulting Shyamu, a resident of Sanjay Enclave in Faridabad.

According to Shyamu’s complaint filed at Saran Police Station, the incident occurred on Monday while he was en route to a shop with the girl.

He claimed that upon being apprehended, he was taken to Bajrangi’s house where he was restrained, beaten with sticks, and threatened with dire consequences.

Expressing his innocence, Shyamu stated in the complaint, “That girl is like my daughter but due to some misunderstanding, they took me to Bittu Bajrangi, who without any reason assaulted me assuming that I am from the Muslim community.”

Based on the complaint, an FIR was lodged on Wednesday against Bajrangi and his associates under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Station House Officer Sangram Dahiya stated, “An FIR has been registered and a recommendation for the suspension of the policeman has also been sent to senior officials. We are investigating the matter and the accused will be arrested soon.”

Bajrangi, previously arrested in connection with violence in Haryana’s Nuh last year, is currently out on bail.
