Elon Musk announced on Thursday that his X platform has introduced the Community Notes feature in India, coinciding with the country’s upcoming general elections. The platform, owned by Musk, also welcomed new contributors from India to participate in this feature.

Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, stated, “Community Notes now active in India.” The company mentioned that its initial contributors from India are starting today, with plans for further expansion.

“We’ll monitor quality to ensure notes are helpful from various perspectives,” noted the X platform. Currently, Community Notes has contributors from 69 countries, with regular additions being made.

In December 2022, the platform enabled the global viewing of ‘Community Notes’ related to posts. These notes aim to enhance understanding by allowing users to collectively provide context to potentially misleading posts.

According to the company, contributors can leave notes on any post, and those deemed helpful by contributors with diverse viewpoints will be publicly displayed. Notably, posts with Community Notes will only be addressed if they violate the platform’s rules.
