Baramulla court declares 8 absconding Kashmiri men proclaimed offenders

Baramulla: On April 1, the court of Additional Sessions Judge Baramulla declared eight people as proclaimed offenders in case FIR No 03/2008 under various sections of the law.

These people, residents of Khore Sherabad Pattan and other areas, were declared proclaimed offenders based on an application by Baramulla Police.

The offenders are Hilal Ahmad Ganie, Mudasir Shafi Geelani, Mohd Maqbool Pandith, Habibullah Sheikh, Shabir Ahmad Najar, Mohd Ashraf Dar, Gh Nabi Najar, and Fayaz Ahmad Mir. They were charged under sections of the EIMCO Act, RPC, and UA(P) Act of police station Pattan.

Previously, the court issued a search warrant under section 25 of the Police Act for their arrest, but they could not be traced or arrested as they are presently in Pakistan-administered Kashmir or Pakistan.

Proclamation orders under section 87 of the CrPC have been issued by the Hon’ble Court, and these orders have been pasted at their residences and public places. The court has directed them to present themselves before the Court of Law within one month. Failure to comply will result in the initiation of property sezure proceedings under section 88 of the CrPC.
