The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted airstrikes in the Rafah area early Thursday morning. In Gaza, 34,000 Palestinians have lost lives in Israeli strikes since October 7, 2023.

Reports from Israeli and Arabic media suggest that the airstrikes resulted in multiple casualties and injuries. However, the actual number was not reported.

Following recent missile and drone attacks by Iran on Israel, the IDF has intensified its operations against Hamas and Hezbollah militants.

On Wednesday, the IDF carried out an airstrike that resulted in the death of seven people.

Israel’s allies, including the US, UK, and France, had urged Israel to avoid targeting the Rafah region due to its high population density, with an estimated 1.3 million residents, warning of potential heavy civilian casualties.

During a recent visit to the Middle East, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi expressed concerns to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken about a potential Israeli attack on Rafah, warning that such an attack could trigger a significant refugee crisis in Egypt’s Sinai region, which shares a border with Rafah.
