Man shot dead in Rajouri, frisking and vehicle checks increase

Rajouri: A tight deployment was observed, including the frisking of vehicles in Rajouri, after a man was shot dead by unidentified persons on Monday evening, police said.

The firing incident took place in Kunda Top area of the district. The incident took place when the victim, Abdula Razaq, came out of a mosque in his village under the Thanamandi police station area.

“Security heightened after a man, identified as Mohd Razaq, was shot dead by unidentified persons in Kunda Top, Rajouri. Forces have cordoned off the area,” said Rajouri police. The fire was opened from a close range, an official said.

The cops are were seen conducting random checks of vehicles and frisking of people following the incident.

Earlier, soon after the incident, armed forces cordoned off the area, and an investigation was initiated. Razaq’s brother is an army personnel (Territorial Army), officials said.

Armed personnel rushed to the spot and launched a massive cordon and search operation to track down the attackers, one official said soon after the incident.
