‘Two army personnel sustain injuries, Bodies of militants yet to be retrieved as Op still underway’

Sopore: Two unidentified militants were killed in an overnight military operation at north Kashmir’s Sopore, while as a civilian was injured along with two armed forces personnel, officials said Friday.

A top police official said that in the ensuing operation at Check Mohalla Nowpora in Sopore, two militants whose identity is being ascertained were killed this morning. “Two bodies are lying on the ground and they are yet to be retrieved as the operation is still on,” he said.

During the operation, a civilian and two army personnel received bullet injury. The injured were later shifted to hospital for treatment.

Officials earlier on Thursday said that a Joint team of Army’s 22 RR, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police laid a cordon and search operation in Nowpora village of Sopore after having credible inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering the operation.

Meanwhile, operation is in progress and roads leading to the spot has been sealed off by the armed forces. (KNO)
