Four IAF personnel injured as militants attack convoy, military Op underway: Report

Poonch: Four Indian Air Force personnel were injured when militants fired upon two vehicles in their convoy in the Surankote area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, according to sources cited in NDTV report.

Following the attack, a joint operation by armed forces was initiated against the militants.

Sources from the defence sector told NDTV, “Militants attacked an Indian Air Force convoy in Poonch. The local Rashtriya Rifles unit has commenced cordon and search operations in the vicinity. The vehicles have been secured within the air base area near Shahsitar. Military personnel have sustained injuries.”

Earlier, a report by local news agency GNS said that a massive search operation going on in the woods amid inputs about the presence of the militants from past few days.

Amid this, they said, militants attacked a vehicle either belonging to Indian Air Force or Military Engineering Services (MES).

The army and police also retaliated, leading to the operation. There was no official word about any injuries of fatalities even as the sources said that some casualties have taken place. When this report was filed, massive searches were going on and top army officers also rushed to the spot.
