Attack in Poonch a ‘pre-poll stunt’ by BJP, claims former Punjab CM Charanjit Channi

Punjab: Congress leader and former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has said that the recent militant attack on an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district was a pre-election tactic orchestrated by the BJP.

The attack on Saturday evening resulted in the death of one IAF personnel, with four others sustaining injuries. One injured personnel is reported to be in critical condition, while the others are stable, according to officials.

Channi dismissed the attack as a political ploy, stating, “These are all stunts and not terrorist attacks. These are nothing but BJP’s pre-poll stunt. There is no truth in it. BJP is playing with people’s lives and bodies.”

Accusing the BJP of orchestrating such incidents for electoral gain, Channi alleged that these attacks are planned and executed to boost the BJP’s electoral prospects. “Whenever elections come, such stunts are played. Similar attacks happened during the last general elections,” Channi remarked.

A large-scale search and cordon operation, led by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, is underway to locate the militants responsible for the attack.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi condemned the attack as “cowardly” and expressed condolences to the family of slain personnel.
