Kulgam: Commander of LeT Basit Dar was among two millitants who were killed in a military operation in Redwani Payeen of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police said on Tuesday.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir V K Birdi said that Dar was killed along with other militant.
The top officer said, “It is a big achievement for the forces as Dar was behind many militant attacks especially in Srinagar.”
Basit, a resident of Redwani’s Kulgam, who had been missing from his home since three years and joined The Resistance Front (TRF), a front organisation of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
NIA had announced Rs10 lakh reward for details leading to arrest of the TRF commander.
Dar was also the mastermind behind the spat of civilian killings, the officer added. (GNS)
