Kejriwal arrest: Delhi Guv wants NIA probe, AAP calls him ‘agent of BJP’

New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has suggested an investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into allegations that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal received political funding from the banned organisation Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) for the AAP.

In response, the AAP has dismissed this as a “conspiracy,” with accusations against Saxena as an “agent” of the BJP.

They claim the BJP is anxious due to potential losses in all seven Delhi seats in the upcoming elections.

This move by Saxena follows a complaint from Ashoo Mongia of the World Hindu Federation, who prompted Saxena to write to the Union Home Secretary requesting the NIA probe.

This letter was sent just before the Supreme Court’s consideration of interim bail for Kejriwal, amid ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Currently, the Chief Minister is under judicial custody since his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in a case related to Delhi’s excise policy.

AAP Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj criticised Saxena, echoing accusations of being a BJP “agent” and highlighting similar allegations made before the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections.
