Patna: The CBI has made its initial arrests in the NEET-UG paper leak case, detaining two persons from Patna, PTI reported quoting officials on Thursday.

Manish Kumar and Ashutosh Kumar are accused of providing secure locations for exam candidates, where they were given leaked papers and answer keys, officials stated.

The CBI has filed six FIRs related to the NEET paper leak case. CBI has taken over the case from Bihar’s Economic Offences Unit.

The NEET-UG, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is an entrance exam for MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses in both government and private institutions nationwide.

This year’s exam took place on May 5 at 4,750 centers across 571 cities, including 14 international locations, with over 23 lakh candidates participating.

The CBI registered its first FIR on Sunday, following the ministry’s announcement to transfer the investigation of the alleged exam irregularities to the central agency.

A group of protesting students had demanded a CBI investigation.
