New Delhi: The CPI(M) Politburo on Thursday condemned a “spate of attacks against members of the Muslim community” across the country since the Lok Sabha poll results were announced, urging its state units to hold protests.

They highlighted incidents where Muslims were targeted, including the recent killing of three Muslim men transporting bullocks in Raipur, allegedly by cow vigilantes.

“The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) condemns the spate of attacks against members of the Muslim community in various parts of the country since the election results were announced,” the CPI(M) stated.

They cited several incidents: in Aligarh, a Muslim man was beaten to death over theft allegations; in Mandala, Madhya Pradesh, eleven Muslim homes were demolished within 24 hours after alleged reports of ‘beef’ being found in refrigerators; and in Lucknow’s Akbarnagar, homes of over a thousand Muslim families were bulldozed for riverfront construction, labeled as illegal.

Other incidents mentioned included protests in Gujarat’s Vadodara against a Muslim woman being allotted a flat in a low-income housing complex, the looting and vandalizing of a Muslim man’s shop in Nahan, Himachal Pradesh, following allegations of cow sacrifice, and residents fleeing Delhi’s Sangam Vihar after provocative speeches by Hindutva members, following the discovery of a cow carcass near a place of worship.

“These communal assaults, following the BJP’s setbacks in the Lok Sabha elections, highlight the intensifying polarisation efforts by the BJP and Hindutva forces,” the CPI(M) said.

“The Polit Bureau calls on all its units to remain vigilant against such maneuvers by the BJP and other communal outfits. Party units nationwide should organize protests against these attempts to vitiate the atmosphere and divert public attention,” they added.
