Gaza genocide: 58 new killings take death toll to over 38,000

Palestinian children walk on rubble to inspect damage as Israel continues strikes in Gaza, killing over 38,000 so far.

At least 58 more Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, raising the total death toll to 38,011 since October 7, 2023, according to the Health Ministry in Gaza on Thursday.

The ministry also said that around 87,445 people have been injured in the ongoing assault.

The Palestinian Civil Defense Agency reported that its teams recovered five bodies after an Israeli strike on a school sheltering displaced people in the al-Daraj neighborhood east of Gaza City, with 15 others injured.

The ministry reported, “Israeli forces killed 58 people and injured 179 others in four ‘massacres’ against families in the last 24 hours.”

“Many people are still trapped under rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added.

Despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire, Israel has continued its offensive on Gaza, facing international condemnation.

Over eight months into the conflict, large parts of Gaza are in ruins, suffering from a severe blockade on food, clean water, and medicine.

Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which recently ordered Tel Aviv to halt its military operation in Rafah, where over a million Palestinians had sought refuge before it was invaded on May 6.
