Israel will remain key US ally whoever replaces Joe Biden, says Benjamin Netanyahu

Joe Biden and Benjamin Netanyahu.

As he departed for a diplomatic visit to the United States, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed that Israel will remain America’s key ally in the Middle East regardless of the outcome of the 2024 US presidential election.

Netanyahu emphasised the significance of his trip, stating that he will address both houses of Congress on Wednesday amidst Israel’s ongoing conflicts and political uncertainty in Washington.

“I will work to secure bipartisan support for Israel and reassure both sides that, no matter who becomes the next US President, Israel will continue to be America’s indispensable ally in the Middle East,” Netanyahu said before leaving for Washington.

Netanyahu, speaking alongside Noa Argamani, an Israeli hostage recently freed from Hamas, stressed that his primary goals are the “release of all Israeli hostages, the defeat of Hamas, and the safe return of all Israeli citizens.”

He also mentioned his plan to meet President Biden to express gratitude for his support of Israel throughout his career and during the current conflict.
