Army, militants exchange fire near LoC in Kupwara, says police

Kupwara: Some exchange of fire was reported on Saturday between militants and armed forces near Kumkari post area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

A top police officer told GNS that some militant movement was detected by the armed forces during searches near Kumkadi post.

When forces challenged the militants, they fired upon the party, which was effectively retaliated triggering off the operation , he said.

Till this report was being filed, operation in the area was still underway, more details will follow. (GNS)
