New Delhi: On Thursday, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi criticised the government in the Lok Sabha over the exclusion of Babri Masjid references from NCERT textbooks.

“The NCERT has omitted mentions of the Babri Masjid and the 2002 Gujarat violence. Why shouldn’t people learn from past mistakes?” he questioned.

Owaisi argued, “Shouldn’t our children learn about the Gujarat pogrom and the massacre of minority Muslims?”

During a debate on the Union education ministry’s demands for grants, Owaisi accused the government of manipulating textbook content and educational programs, stressing that those who don’t learn from history’s mistakes are destined to repeat them.

The NCERT has reduced the Ayodhya section from four pages to two and replaced “Babri Masjid” with “three-domed structure” in the revised Class 12 political science textbook.

Independent MP Pappu Yadav also participated in the debate, calling for Patna University to be upgraded to a central university and urging the government to publish competitive exam results within 15 days to prevent manipulation.
