Anantnag: Tariq Ahmad Veeri, the recently appointed constituency in-charge for Bijbehara-Srigufwara from Apni Party, has rejoined the National Conference (NC), a move seen as strengthening NC’s position in the upcoming elections.
This switch occurred in Anantnag at the office of Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri, Tariq’s brother and a senior NC leader, as reported by KNO.
Meanwhile, Aijaz Ahmad Mir, a former MLA and district president of PDP in Wachi, has quit the party.
Disappointed after the PDP assigned the constituency mandate to someone else, Mir plans to contest the upcoming J&K assembly elections as an independent candidate, the news agency reported.
He expressed his discontent with the party’s decision and stressed upon that mandates should be determined by the people, not the party.
