New Delhi: The Congress strongly criticised the BJP on Saturday for attacking its alliance with the National Conference (NC), questioning whether the BJP had reviewed the PDP’s manifesto when it formed an alliance with the party led by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in 2015, Decan Herald.
This response came after Home Minister of India Amit Shah and other BJP leaders accused the Congress of not considering the NC manifesto, which included proposals like ending the quota system in Kashmir, before finalising the alliance.
“I want to ask Amit Shah if the BJP read the PDP manifesto when it formed an alliance with them. That manifesto mentioned using the currencies of both India and Pakistan,” Decan Herald quoted Congress media department chairperson Pawan Khera as saying.
He added, “There were extensive discussions on self-rule. Despite this, you formed a government with them and drafted a common minimum programme, pledging to follow Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s path and initiate talks with Hurriyat. Why did you write that? BJP leaders, especially those in the Home Minister’s position, have become accustomed to making baseless statements.”
On Friday, Shah had posed ten questions to the Congress, questioning whether it supported the NC’s promise of a separate flag for Jammu and Kashmir, the restoration of Article 370 and 35A, and the end of reservations for Dalits, Gujjars, Bakarwals, and Pahadi communities.
