Srinagar: PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti announced on Saturday that her party is willing to fully support the Congress-NC alliance in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections by not contesting any seats, provided the coalition is ready to embrace the PDP’s agenda, reports said.

Mehbooba clarified that the PDP’s focus is on the resolution of the Kashmir issue and the reopening of routes, stressing upon that these priorities outweigh any concerns about seat-sharing or alliances with other parties.

Mehbooba firmly ruled out the possibility of an alliance with the BJP, with whom the PDP had previously formed a coalition government.

She said, “Forget about alliance and seat-sharing, if the Congress and the National Conference (NC) are ready to accept our agenda —that resolution of the Kashmir issue is necessary and on the opening of routes —we will tell them to contest all the seats, and we will follow you.”

She added that, for her, resolving the Kashmir issue is more important than anything else, making it clear that the PDP’s support would be conditional on the acceptance of this agenda.

These remarks came during a press interaction following the release of the PDP’s manifesto for the assembly elections.
