New Delhi: Actor and politician Kangana Ranaut has been reprimanded by the BJP leadership following her controversial remarks on the farmers’ protest, NDTV reported.

The BJP clarified that her views do not reflect those of the party, expressing their disagreement with her statement.

This disapproval came a day after the 38-year-old claimed that the farmers’ protest could have led to a crisis in India similar to that of Bangladesh, had the government not taken strong measures.

The BJP said that Ranaut is not authorised to speak on policy matters on behalf of the party and has been instructed to refrain from making such statements in the future.

BJP leaders in Haryana and Punjab had earlier advised the MP from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi to avoid making inflammatory remarks.

Punjab BJP leader Harjit Grewal stated, “It is not Kangana’s role to speak on farmers. Her statement is personal, and it does not reflect the party’s stance. The BJP and PM Modi are supportive of farmers, while the opposition parties are working against us. Kangana’s comments are harmful, and she should avoid making statements on sensitive or religious issues.”

Congress leader Randeep Surjewala also responded to her comments, suggesting that she should “get well soon.”
