Ganderbal: Amid the ongoing assembly election campaign, Zahir Abdullah, son of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, made a strong pitch for the people in Ganderbal, asserting their rights over local resources.

Speaking at a rally in Ganderbal, Zahir said, “We have the first right on our land, jobs, sand, power, and mountains — not outsiders.”

Earlier, Zahir’s brother Zamir, said, “My great-grandfather, Sher-e-Kashmir, began his political journey here, and we have always had the support of the people. My grandfather and my father, Omar Abdullah, both served as MLAs for Ganderbal. This constituency has always been central to us.”

As part of his campaign, Zamir promised to focus on critical local issues, such as unemployment and the growing drug problem affecting Kashmiri youth. “We are here to connect with every household and ensure that our manifesto reaches everyone.

Unemployment is a serious concern, and the rise of drugs among our youth is alarming. Our campaign will prioritise solutions to these pressing issues,” he added.
