Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed strong reservations over the bail granted to Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) chief Er Rashid, stating that it is a clear attempt to “fetch votes” from the people of Kashmir rather than serve them.

Omar Abdullah, who is contesting the upcoming elections from two key constituencies Ganderbal and Budgam, warned that the move is part of the BJP’s larger plan to form a government with the support of smaller parties like AIP.

Omar Abdullah questioned the timing of Er Rashid’s bail, saying it is aimed at influencing voters ahead of the elections.

He also highlighted Mehbooba Mufti’s stance that Er Rashid is working at the behest of the BJP.

Omar Abdullah appealed to voters not to split their votes, warning that it would only help the BJP achieve its goals. [KNT]
