New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has once again criticised Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi over the India-China border issue, alleging that the PM has not effectively managed the situation, resulting in Chinese troops occupying 4,000 square kilometres of land in Ladakh.
During a media interaction at the National Press Club in Washington DC, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, who is on a three-day visit to the US, said, “If you consider having Chinese troops occupying 4,000 square kilometres of our territory as handling things well, then perhaps we have a problem. That’s equivalent to the size of Delhi being occupied in Ladakh, which is a disaster.”
As per IANS report, Gandhi questioned how the US would react if a neighbouring country occupied such a vast area of its land, stating that no president would be able to claim they had managed the situation well.
The Congress leader also emphasised the need for US-India cooperation to counter China’s “non-democratic production vision” and to create a democratic alternative for global manufacturing and production.
He called for a stronger response to China’s Belt and Road Initiative and urged India and the US to collaborate in presenting a democratic vision that works for the world.
