Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir high court granted pre-arrest bail on Friday to an Indian Air Force (IAF) wing commander accused of rape, mental harassment, and stalking a female flying officer in Srinagar.

The court acknowledged that the arrest could damage the reputation and career of the officer, who serves as a Wing Commander. The bail decision came after a First Information Report (FIR) was filed by Jammu and Kashmir Police based on the woman’s complaint.

The court allowed the investigation to proceed but instructed the police not to file a chargesheet without its permission. The accused must provide two sureties of ₹50,000 each, cannot leave the Union Territory without approval from his commanding officer, and must report to the investigating officer between September 14 and 16.

The FIR was filed after the woman officer, stationed in Srinagar, accused the wing commander of ongoing harassment, sexual assault, and mental torture.
