Srinagar: Lok Sabha MP Engineer Rashid accused National Conference leader Omar Abdullah and People’s Conference chief Sajad Gani Lone of teaming up to defeat candidates from his Awami Ittehad Party, PTI reported.

Engineer Rashid, who defeated both Abdullah and Lone in the Baramulla Lok Sabha elections earlier this year, criticised their recent alliance.

“Omar Abdullah was recently accusing Sajad Lone and Altaf Bukhari’s Apni Party of being BJP’s B teams. Now, I have solid proof that Omar and Sajad have joined forces to defeat me in north Kashmir and beyond. Can Omar now clarify who is BJP’s B team?” Rashid told PTI.

Rashid also pointed to the National Conference’s silence on BJP leader Tarun Chugh’s remarks about their leaders, claiming this further supports his accusations. “Chugh threatened to expose National Conference leaders who secretly meet BJP officials, yet there has been no response. Why?” he questioned.

He further criticised Omar for accepting support from Apni Party leader Muntazir Mohiuddin in Budgam, despite previously calling the Apni Party BJP’s B team. “Omar Abdullah accepted backing from the same party he vilified. How does he explain that?” Rashid remarked, adding that various regional parties had joined forces to undermine his party in the assembly elections.

The three-phase Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections are ongoing, with the second and third phases scheduled for Wednesday and October 1. Results will be announced on October 8.
