JK phase 2 polling: 46.12% turnout till 3pm, tribal areas lead

Srinagar: The second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections 2024 witnessed an overall voter turnout of 46.12% by 3pm on Wednesday, with tribal areas leading the charge and urban regions trailing behind.

Constituencies like Gulabgarh, with the highest recorded turnout at 65.57%, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi at 64.26%, and Poonch Haveli at 62.91% saw high participation, reflecting strong engagement in rural and tribal regions.

In contrast, urban centers experienced lower polling numbers, with Habbakadal recording a mere 13.28%, Channapora at 22.20%, and Khanyar at 20.50%. Other constituencies like Zadibal and Central Shalteng also struggled with turnout percentages of 23.78% and 24.09%, rerespectively.

Tribal constituencies such as Rajouri (59.51%) and Budhal (59.18%) maintained high levels of voter participation.
