JK assembly polls: 11.6% voter turnout recorded in first two hours

Srinagar: Between 7am and 9am, voter turnout stood at 11.6% across all 40 assembly constituencies in seven districts of Jammu and Kashmir, according to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer.

Today’s voting is expected to boost the overall turnout, as key areas like Kupwara, Gurez, and Karnah, known for high voter engagement, are participating in the polls.

Previously, the first phase saw a 61.38% turnout, while the second phase recorded 59.11% in Jammu and Kashmir.

Srinagar district registered the lowest turnout, with only 27% of voters in its eight constituencies.
