Germany has reaffirmed its support for Israel’s military actions in Gaza, despite rising civilian casualties. In more than a year, Israel has killed more than 42,000 Palestinains in the genocide.

“We do not see any indications of genocide being committed by Israel in Gaza,” Turkey-based news gatherer Anadolu Agency quoted German Foreign Ministry spokesperson Sebastian Fischer as saying during a press briefing in Berlin.

His comments followed a fresh Israeli airstrike on tents housing displaced Palestinians at Al-Aqsa Hospital in Gaza, which killed at least four civilians and injured dozens. Footage from the scene showed victims burned, with rescuers trying to save others and control the fire.

This incident came after another airstrike on a UNRWA school in the Nuseirat refugee camp, which killed 22 people, including 15 children.

Fischer dismissed media reports that German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock had halted arms exports to Israel or sought assurances that German weapons would not be used for genocide. He reiterated that Germany’s stance on the conflict remains unchanged.

Germany, a strong ally of Israel, has emphasised its historical responsibility for Israel’s security. Since the start of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, more than 42,200 Palestinians have been killed, and over 98,400 injured, mostly women and children.

Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its actions in Gaza, where millions of displaced Palestinians are suffering from famine and critical shortages of medical supplies.
