Ganderbal: Armed forces have intensified their efforts to track down militants responsible for the killing of seven workers, including a local doctor, in Ganderbal, central Kashmir.
The October 20 attack near Gagangeer targeted employees of APCO Infratech, a company working on the strategic Z-Morh tunnel project that connects Ladakh to the rest of India. Senior police officials, including the Jammu and Kashmir DGP Nalin Prabhat, are overseeing the operation, which involves drones and sniffer dogs, PTI reported.
Investigations, as per the report, have confirmed two militants carried out the attack.
Among the victims were Dr Shahnawaz Dar from Budgam and workers from other states. Following the attack, area patrols have been increased, especially after a similar incident in Shopian days earlier.
Several political leaders, including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, have condemned the attack, with Home Minister Amit Shah promising a firm response.
