Srinagar: Two militants have been killed in a night long military operation in Sagipora area of north Kashmir’s Sopore on Friday.
A top police officer told GNS that two militants have been killed so far in the exchange of fire with the armed forces.
On Thursday, following credible inputs about presence of militants in Panipura, Sagipora, a joint operation by was launched. He said that as forces zeroed in the suspected spot, exchange of fire took place between the hiding militants and the forces, leading to the operation, a police official said.
However, the operation was suspended for the night for precautionary measures and was resumed this morning with the first light of the day.
In the ensuing operation, two militants have been killed, while operation is ongoing, he said. This is the third encounter in north Kashmir in the last few days.
