Two Delhi residents held with drugs worth crores in Srinagar, says police

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two Delhi residents along with narcotics substance worth crores in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

In a statement, the police said that on November 12, during nakaa checking at Tengpora flood channel in Batamaloo, police team of Srinagar police detained two individuals identified as Love Kumar from Shahdara Kastura Nagar, Delhi and Vipin Kumar from Sultanpuri, Delhi.

The police spokesman further stated that upon their search, 2.4 kg of heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession.

Consequently, FIR No. 140/2024 under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered in police station Batmaloo and investigation initiated, he said.

During the course of investigation, the accused persons disclosed information that led to further recovery of 2.86 kg of Crystal Meth ( Amphetamine ) from their vehicle ( Ertiga ) bearing registration no HR11N 7336, he said.

Further investigation into the case is going on to trace the origin and operation of the network of the illegal narcotics trade, reads the statement.
