Srinagar: Several higher reaches of Kashmir, including Gulmarg, Gurez, Sonamarg, and Pahalgam, witnessed fresh snowfall on Sunday evening, causing temperatures to dip across the region.

The snowfall began late afternoon, prompting authorities to halt traffic on the Mughal, Gurez, and Sinthan roads. Officials advised travelers to avoid these routes until conditions improve.

The Meteorological Department forecast light rain or snow in Kashmir’s higher reaches through Monday morning, with dry weather expected from December 10-11. Another spell of light snowfall is anticipated in isolated areas on December 12, followed by dry conditions from December 13-17.

Meanwhile, travel advisories have been issued for the Gulmarg-Tangmarg road due to slippery conditions. Only 4×4 vehicles equipped with anti-skid chains will be allowed, and low-capacity vehicles (10 seats or fewer) are permitted to prevent congestion.

Authorities have also set regulated pricing for anti-skid chain installation and advised proper parking and road usage to avoid disruptions.
