The Health Ministry in Gaza reported on Wednesday that at least 19 additional Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks, raising the total death toll to 44,805 since last year.
According to the ministry, 106,257 people have been injured in the ongoing conflict.
“Israeli forces killed 19 individuals and injured 69 others in two family-targeted massacres within the last 24 hours,” the statement read. It also highlighted that many individuals remain trapped under rubble and in the streets, as rescuers face challenges in reaching them.
Despite a United Nations Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire, Israel has continued its military campaign in Gaza, which began following a Hamas attack last year.
Now entering its second year, the conflict in Gaza has faced increasing international criticism. Many officials and institutions have described the attacks and the blockade of aid as a calculated effort to eradicate a population.
In response, the International Criminal Court (ICC) recently issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Additionally, Israel is confronting a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the territory.
