‘Neighbouring country played role’: American and Zionist plot, says Khamenei on Syria

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution, described the events in Syria as part of a “joint American and Zionist plot,” with additional involvement from a neighbouring country, Press TV reported.

Speaking in Tehran on Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei stated, “There is no doubt that the events in Syria were orchestrated in the command rooms of the United States and Israel. We have evidence to support this.”

He further noted that while a neighbouring nation—likely referring to Turkey—also played a role, the primary architects were the US and Israel.

The Leader dismissed concerns about the weakening of the resistance front following the infiltration of militants and Takfiri terrorists into Damascus. He assured that the resistance would only grow stronger despite these challenges.

“This is the essence of the resistance front. The more it is pressured, the stronger and more determined it becomes. The more crimes are committed against it, the more widespread it will grow. By Divine Power, the influence of the resistance will expand across the region,” he emphasised.

Ayatollah Khamenei also rejected analyses suggesting that a diminished resistance front would weaken Iran. “Those who think resistance is tied to Iran’s strength misunderstand its true nature. By God’s will and power, Iran remains strong and will continue to grow even more powerful,” he declared.
