Jammu: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh criticised the National Conference (NC) government, led by Omar Abdullah, for failing to address Kashmir’s ongoing power cuts and water crisis.

Chugh accused the administration of neglecting its promise to provide 200 units of free electricity while residents face unscheduled power outages during the harsh winter, particularly Chilai Kalan, the coldest 40-day period. He highlighted that Srinagar recorded a night temperature of minus 8.4°C, the lowest in over three decades, leaving people struggling with basic needs amid prolonged outages and water shortages.

“The NC government has failed to prioritise essential amenities like electricity and water. This negligence has worsened the hardships of the people,” Chugh said, warning that the BJP will protest if immediate action isn’t taken.

He also demanded Omar Abdullah’s resignation, citing his failure to fulfill promises and growing dissent within his party, including protests led by Srinagar MP Aga Ruhullah Mehdi.
