Jobs and land more pressing concern, reservation can wait: CM Omar

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that safeguarding jobs and land for the people of the region is a more pressing concern than addressing reservation policies.

Speaking on the sidelines of a media interaction, Abdullah noted that while the reservation issue is being handled through a cabinet sub-committee, the focus must shift to protecting the region’s resources.

“The bigger issue is that our jobs are not ours, and our lands are not ours. Reservation can be addressed later, but protecting our resources must come first,” he stated.

Omar urged collaboration among parliamentarians, including National Conference MP Aga Ruhullah and legislators from other parties, to tackle these critical issues in the upcoming parliamentary session. He stressed that these matters require immediate attention to ensure the rights and resources of Jammu and Kashmir’s people are safeguarded.
