Srinagar: Responding to the BJP’s claim that the ‘Kashmir issue’ was resolved with the abrogation of Article 370 five years ago, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that a part of the former state remains under Pakistan’s control.
“Let’s assume for a moment that the issue on this side of Kashmir has been resolved, but we must not forget that another part of Jammu and Kashmir is still under Pakistan’s control, across the Line of Control,” Omar said.
He questioned whether the BJP’s assertion that the Kashmir issue had been resolved meant that the situation across the border had also been addressed, noting that it had not.
When asked if he believed the Kashmir issue was resolved after the abrogation of Article 370, as the BJP claims, Omar stated, “The Kashmir issue remains unresolved, whether it pertains to this side of the LoC or the other. We can debate the details, but the issue is still there, and we want it to be resolved.”
