Gandhinagar: Home Minister of India Amit Shah asserted on Wednesday that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved significantly following the abrogation of Article 370, emphasizing that no one dares to create mischief during the Krishna Janmashtami procession at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk.
Speaking in Kalol, Gandhinagar district, Shah attributed the implementation of Article 370 to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, stating it granted special status to the region. He highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in revoking the provision in 2019, calling it a decisive message to the world about India’s self-respect and honour.
Addressing a gathering after inaugurating and laying foundation stones for projects worth ₹194 crore, Shah noted that hoisting the tricolor at Lal Chowk once required army support, but today, the area is peaceful. He praised the transformation in Kashmir, citing the 2.8 crore tourists, largely from Gujarat, who visited without any issues—a testament to Modi’s hardworking and sensitive leadership.
