‘Faith healer’ nabbed in Budgam for allegedly molesting woman during rituals, says police

Srinagar: A self-proclaimed faith healer was caught red-handed by locals in Hanjigund, Chadoora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district while allegedly attempting to molest a woman.

Reports reaching Kashmir Dot Com said that the accused, identified as Bit Peer, a resident of Chattergam, was apprehended in the house of Irshad Ahmad Bhat, son of Gh Qadir, by vigilant residents.

According to locals, the accused had entered the house under the pretence of performing rituals. However, suspicions were raised when he allegedly tried to molest a woman. The locals acted promptly, catching the man before he could flee.

A police officer confirmed the incident to KDC, stating that the faith healer was injured and swiftly shifted to a local hospital for treatment. An investigation is underway, and an FIR will be lodged soon.
