Er Rashid granted 2-day custody parole to attend Parliament; barred from speaking to media

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday granted custody parole of two days to Awami Ithehad Party chief and Member of Parliament from north Kashmir, Er Rashid.

According to details available with news agency Kashmir News Observer Er Rashid has been granted two-day custody parole to enable him to attend the Parliament. He was earlier on hunger strike and his health had deteriorated following which he was shifted to hospital.

The court stated that he is not allowed to use the internet or speak to the media during this period.

Rashid has been in jail since 2019 after he was charged by NIA under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in alleged terror funding case.

He was elected as the Member of Parliament from the Baramulla constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
