Srinagar: Hurriyat leader and chief cleric of Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has been placed under house arrest for the sixth consecutive year ahead of Shab-e-Baraat.
In a post on X, the cleric confirmed his detention, stating, “For the 6th consecutive year, I have again been placed under house arrest ahead of Shab-e-Baraat today!”
However, authorities have not issued an official statement on the restriction.
