668 books promoting banned organisation’s ideology seized in Srinagar, says police

Srinagar: Srinagar police on Friday said based on credible intelligence regarding the clandestine sale and distribution of literature promoting the ideology of a banned organisation, they conducted a search operation, leading to the seizure of 668 books.  

Officials said the operation was carried out to curb the dissemination of material that could incite unrest. Following the seizure, legal action has been initiated under Section 126 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS).

The police confirmed the development in a post on X, stating that the books were recovered during a search operation. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against any attempts to promote banned ideologies. Further investigation into the case is underway.

“Based on credible intelligence regarding the clandestine sale and distribution of literature promoting the ideology of a banned organisation, Police conducted a search in Srinagar, leading to the seizure of 668 books. Legal action has been initiated under Section 126 of the BNSS,” reads the X post.
